Takara Tomy is giving the Myogi Night Kids their due. Two new Tomica Premium unlimited die-casts arrive September 19, priced at ¥1,430 each: Takeshi Nakazato's Nissan Skyline GT-R (BNR32) and Shingo Shoji's Honda Civic SiR-II (EG6), both in their "Initial D" specifications.
The unlimited line is Tomica's licensed-collaboration series aimed at adult collectors, and the treatment here goes beyond a paint job: front bumpers, wheels, mufflers and even seats are modeled to match the cars as they appear in the story, at 1/62 scale, with working suspension and opening doors.
The supporting cast gets its turn
While the hero AE86 and the Takahashi brothers' RX-7s remain the franchise's most familiar merchandise staples, this release brings two early-series rivals from the Myogi Night Kids — the team based at Mount Myogi in Gunma Prefecture — into the Tomica Premium unlimited lineup. Nakazato's black R32 is the story's great argument for grip over drift, and Shoji's EG6 is one of manga's most infamous front-wheel-drive villains' cars.
There is also a neat real-world echo in the timing. The R32 GT-R has become a serious collector car — with its own reference literature, and with the rarest variants reaching six-figure prices — and at ¥1,430, the Tomica is an accessible way to own a miniature of a machine whose real examples keep climbing at auction.
Takara Tomy lists both models for release on September 19, though availability varies by retailer — its official store listed the R32 as out of stock at the time of writing. The official store ships within Japan; no wider international release has been announced for these two models.
